In celebration of Texas Archeology Month, Big Bend Ranch State Park will be hosting a public trail hike to one of the best rock art panels in the Big Bend Region.The hike is only about 1/2 mile, but the last quarter-mile involves a very steep (approximately 30º) climb. Participants are advised to wear long pants, a long sleeved shirt, and a wide brimmed hat. Bring a lunch and between 3-5 liters of water. Given the rocky terrain, a sturdy hiking stick is also a good idea. The event is scheduled for October 12 at 9:00 AM in the Southwestern part of the park (call or email for details on event location).

The event is currently limited to 10 participants, though may be expanded depending on the level of interest. The $3.00 per person park entry fee can be paid at Fort Leaton Historic Site either before or after the event.
