Guadalupe Mountains National Park.
The peak is part of the Western Escarpment, which plays an important
role in telling the story of the Permian period in North America.
According to the park's website, "these exposures present one of the
finest cross sections in the world of
the transition from shallow-water to deep-water deposits." Geology
